3 Median Mode. For example if you have the numbers 1 3 5 and 7 the middle numbers are 3 and 5 so the median is 4. 2 4 2 6 2 3.
To determine the median the list of numbers should be arranged in order from lowest to highest. The mean is the same as the average value of a data set and is found using a calculation. The mode is the number that is repeated most often but all the numbers in this list appear only once so there is no mode.
Generally if the distribution of data is skewed to the left the mean is less than the median which is often less than the mode.
Of the three statistics the mean is the largest while the mode is the smallest. It is possible for a data set to be multimodal meaning that it has more than one mode. The largest value in the list is 7 the smallest is 1 and their difference is 6 so the range is 6. Figure pageindex 3 the mean is 7 7 the median is 7 5 and the mode is seven.
